The date for the next meeting is now confirmed for Saturday 11th February 2012. Time; 16:00hrs. As previously advised the theme for this event will be
"Monte Carlo Rallye Historique 2012". The Official event starts on 29th January 2012, so we just missed coinciding
with the real thing. So far we have three new entries. MGA, and the MGB that won the GT Class in 1964. Plus a Lotus Cortina which was a late entry. Food will be plentiful as usual, thanks to the MSC Master Chef Beryl..

Another incredibly successful meeting. Lap Record was broken twice. Current Lap Record holder is once again Brett, who not to be defeated, in a superb last minute attempt clocked an incredible 5.493secs with his McLaren F1 GTR, just beating the previous record held by Bryan by 0.079 of a second. Paul arrived with his new Digital layout that he had somehow managed to stuff into the pannier bag on his Honda Fireblade 954. This was quickly set up and it really is quite a realistic form of slot car racing. On a 4 x lane layout it's possible to run up to 16 cars in the same race, 4 x cars per lane, all independently controlled, and having brief overtaking sections of track. More about Lap Records. Paul suggested that we should clarify records a little more, i.e. record date, time, which lane, car and Class/Category details. This would give each lane it's own record and details of the car that holds that record. It's been proved before that some lanes are marginally faster than others mainly due to tightness of corners. Food and drink was plentiful as usual with thanks going to our MSC Master Chef Beryl. To view a few images of the meeting, just click the Gallery Link in the box above.

There are new releases of some interesting slot cars, 1964 Lotus Cortina East African Safari Rally winner, a very pretty Porsche 356 Cabriolet, etc. For further information - Click MOBILE RACEWAYS click LATEST ARRIVALS in the left column and scroll down (No V8 Supercars nee Australian Touring Cars).

Confirmed date for our next meeting is 1600hrs Saturday 26th February 2011. We are in the process of classifying cars to run one or two endurance races. Possible Classes: GT Cars, WRC Cars, Minis, Pre 1970 Sports cars. Pre 1970 Formula Cars. These are only suggestions at this stage.

Hopefully at our next meeting we will have a new track to test. Paul H has recently purchased one of the new Digital sets and has kindly offered to set it up at our next meeting. A brief run down for those who don't know the difference between the Digital and Analogue systems. Up to 4 x cars can be run on one Lane. 2 x Lanes with Overtaking Lanes. Pit Lanes for compulsory Pit Stops, plus many other features.

Congratulations to Brett for setting a new official Lap Record at our last meeting of 5.993secs. The previous record was held by Paul A in a time of 6.76secs.

Next Meeting scheduled for February 2011 - Date to be advised. Theme will be Endurance Racing. One or more 30 minute races made up of 4 Teams. One car per team with three drivers, mandatory 10 minutes per driver behind the wheel. Cars must stop at Start/Finish line for each driver change. Winning team will be greatest distance covered in 30 minutes. Specifications of eligible of cars to be advised. Based on an average of 9 sec. laps this should give each driver around 200 laps per race. A more detailed email will be sent soon.

Welcome to Malabar Slot Cars. This venture has now been up and running for 12 months and has proved to be a great success. The circuit is 4 x lanes and app 20 meters in length. Meetings are currently held at weekends, usually once a month.

There are around twenty regular competitors and we try to restrict the cars to British or European manufacture with a Racing or Motor Sport history. There was also a cut off date of 1974 for competing cars but this has been relaxed a little as some WRC cars have been appearing.

There are definitely no Australian Touring Cars permitted to run and we try to keep the atmosphere in a Historic vain.

We are in the process of installing some excellent track lighting with the intention of having some longer than usual night races. Mini Le Mans................. perhaps?

The lighting was imported from a Company in Barcelona and they do a wide range of illuminated signs, etc. all beautifully crafted but not cheap. If you would like to view their website...go to LINKS ART KIT-SLOT
